About Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.

On January 4, 1975, twelve dynamic ladies joined in sisterhood in a beautiful setting of pink, gold, and silver decor and candlelight. With great pride and enthusiasm, they were introduced to the Miami community as charter members of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Miami Chapter. These ladies also made history as they represented the first chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. to be chartered in the State of Florida and the 23rd chapter to be chartered nationally. Their national theme at that time was: "Shapers of Change – a Continuing Commitment."

We are forever grateful to these twelve business and professional women who launched the stage for years of dedication and commitment to service for the youth and adults in Miami and surrounding areas.

Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. was chartered in the state of Texas on September 8, 1964 as a non-profit educational, humanitarian organization with the following as charter members:  Mrs. Franchell Boswell, Tyler, Texas; Mrs. Ina Bolton Brown, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Augusta R. Cash, Memphis, Tennessee; Major Ozell M. Dean, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Willie Lee Glass, Tyler, Texas; Mrs. La Verne R. Madlock, Tyler, Texas; Mrs. Ruth Payne Smith, Navasota, Texas; and Mrs. Georgia B. Presswood Nelson, Dallas, Texas.  The vision and service of these eight dedicated women created the TLOD Story.
